The Advertising Club at UNT has been around for a number of years, and is proud to say that we have had numerous members who have gone on to have prominent careers. Here are a few examples of Ad Club’s finest.

Graham Douglas
Advertising? Mistake.
When Graham came to UNT in 2002, do you know what his declared major was? Marine Biology. To think, he could be rubbing elbows with bikini blondes and sea turtles all day.
But instead he took one advertising class to satisfy a communication credit, loved it, switched his major, resurrected the AdClub with some guys and even tried to turn it into a student agency. If only he would have known the repercussions of his actions.
From there he went on to work at Publicis Dallas for a bit and then to Miami Ad School. He bounced around the country for a while until he finally landed at 180 Los Angeles where he can look out the window and see the ocean. See what could have been.
Without AdClub, who knows where he’d be today.

Cassie Weeks
When Cassie first came to UNT she knew right away that she wanted to study advertising. Cassie heard about Advertising Club from a friend and showed up to a meeting. However, Cassie decided to concentrate on her studies for a while.
Two years later Cassie met the new president in a class and although the club was nonexistent at the moment, she handed the reigns of president to Cassie. So she went straight to work, called all of her teachers, recruited some members, and raised money. Before she knew it, the club was visiting agencies and working on a world-class volunteer project for Publicis. Cassie learned so much from being involved in Ad Club and hopes it can only do the same for everyone else that will be able to join in the future.
UNT taught Cassie everything that she needed to know about advertising and it meant a lot to her to give something back. Now the Ad Club has the potential to do wonderful things for UNT and Cassie says that she is anxious to see what happens in the future. Cassie graduated in August of 2008 and hopes to work in advertising internationally as a group account director. Cassie also aspires to start her own advertising agency in her hometown of Anchorage, Alaska.

Jessica Burton
Jessica Burton, a marketing major, joined the North Texas Advertising Club during the fall semester of her senior year. While visiting Dr. Sheri Broyles, she walked me out of her office and took me by the Ad Club bulletin board. Dr. Broyles showed me the flyer about their next meeting and a visit that they were planning to TracyLocke in about a week from that time. Needless to say, that following Tuesday, she was at the Ad Club meeting and officially joined.
Jessica began interning that following spring semester at a marketing firm named Ivie & Associates, Inc. in Flower Mound, Texas in the Account Service department. She worked on the Sally Beauty / Beauty Systems Group accounts. However, she primarily worked on the Sam’s Club account. Jessica assigned jobs to print buyers, participated in status calls and client meetings and approved proofs among various other things.
Jessica is currently interning at Moroch in Dallas, Texas in the Consumer Insight and Brand Strategy department. She is very excited about taking such important steps in furthering her career.
In the future, she hopes to work in Account Management for a large full-service agency. Jessica would also like to do some client side work as well, particularly in beauty and fashion. She plans on leaving Dallas and living in New York, Hong Kong or London. Or all three! Whatever she ends up doing or wherever she ends up living, Jessica plans on and hopes to be a master at her craft. |

Landon Sloan
Landon was born in land of Gar, the love child of a CPA from Ohio and a Nurse from New Mexico. When it was time for college Landon's parents wrapped him in cloth, placed him in an ark made of bulrushes and set him near some reeds on I-35. He was discovered by a band of people called The UNT Ad Club. He decided to join their tribe and become one of them. Being handed down their conch by one Graham Douglas, he later became President. He built upon Graham's agenda and the club's success by adding two new clients to the student agency. He should be considered in the club's history as the Truman to Graham's Roosevelt, the Adams to his Washington. While seeing much of the United States though the rearview mirror of his red 1993 Chrysler Lebaron convertible, Landon was bitten by the advertising bug in the summer of 2002, after watching an episode of The Big Idea at a Hampton Inn in Tucson Arizona.
Graduating in 2006 Landon went on to work at Levenson and Hill as an Account Coordinator on the agencies new trucking account. After helping his account win an Addy and growing their business, he rose from Account Coordinator to Account Executive. With his new title Landon was given additional accounts, working on a major national retail account, an energy-beverage account, and a logistics account. In 2008 Landon left Levenson to work at Publicis Dallas. He is currently an Account Executive, working on a major national restaurant chain account.
Landon attributes his minimal successes to his UNT professors and the education he received there, great parents who remind him of his "salt of the earth" upbringing, and a loving wife that makes sure his large ego is continually humbled.
He now resides in Allen with his wife, whom he thanks baby Jesus for every night, while he lays in his king-size sleigh bed unable to fall asleep. He is too busy thinking about how he will increase his client's sales, build their brand, drive traffic to their business, revolutionize the ad industry and make his permanent mark on pop-culture and upon mankind. He has recently asked his doctor for a prescription of Ambien.
